About OKLAHOMA CITY OR TULSA? Which one is a better place to live, work and purchase a new home

OKLAHOMA CITY OR TULSA? Which one is a better place to live, work and purchase a new home?
Gonna move too Oklahoma after the holidays. I currently live in Riverside Ca, Not the greatest place with lots and lots of crime there.Checked out Oklahoma this summer(hot and humid) but housing was so cheap and the people were very friendly. Thinking about spending around 240-270k on a new home any ideas would help. I liked Norman.Have been told that Edmond and Broken Arrow are very nice......would love to hear from someone who has lived in the area or currently lives there. Thanks!!

Answer 1 :
Hello There! I live in Norman and I love it here. Tulsa is nice...OKC is nice. Edmond is nice...Just take yourself a little tour before you make your final decision.where you'll live.. Hope you'll enjoy Oklahoma...We do!
Answer 2 :
ive lived in oklahoma most of my life (was born and raised in louisiana) and i live in jenks.. i find tulsa to be much better than OKC, unless you like more of the "city" scene, you might like tulsa better. but for me its nice cause i have a need to be near water, and my house is 50 yards from the arkansas river, lol
Answer 3 :
Hello! I've lived in most of those places and here is my take... find a place that has the people you (and your kids if you have them) will be most comfortable with. Here are some recommendations and insights. Disclaimer - my option only. :-) Norman- this town is awesome and beautiful. Like most college towns, the heartbeat of the city is on the college. Here - it is the football team. Be prepared to live and breath OU when football season starts... the games are often put on the overhead speakers in most of the businesses - yes, even in places like Target. If you choose to buy a house anywhere near (and near is a relative term here, you won't know until you are there on a game day) the school you will have to plan your day around the game schedule, traffic problems and off campus parking lots. People who live there get used to it... it took me awhile to have people parking/sitting/partying on my front lawn. On the flip side, there is always something going on, there are a lot of very educated people, but no shortage of cheep labor b/c of the college town. Housing is a little pricey compared to the rest of Oklahoma in general, but prob better than what you are used to in CA. Also, they have an outstanding public transportation compared to other southern cities. (It's run by the college) Oklahoma City- wouldn't live there if you paid me. Nuff said. Broken Arrow - Also a good location. If you want to build a house, here is the place to go. Currently BA is in a building boom and you can get a custom house for that price that will be a freakin mansion for that price. No problems with college students parking in your yard... the police are VERY responsive and the school systems are good. Brand new hospitals and doctors offices. Broken Arrow is considered a "Bedroom Community" of Tulsa and many like it because it is still a little "country". A great deal of it is still undeveloped with horses in pastures and such. Also be aware, part of BA is in Tulsa county and part is in Wagoner Co. Big Big difference in property taxes. Jenks - If you want a little more Up-scale with an awesome school system then Jenks is your place. Jenks is known state wide for their great public school system and they know it, and will tell you about it... several times. The houses are a lot more money if they are located in this district just because it's so well known, and people pay it. The kids in this school district drive expensive cars, have all the latest clothes...and of course... tell you they go to Jenks. The school isn't as diverse as BA or Union, but they do have a very cute downtown and good upscale mom and pop cafes. "Antique ing" is a common pastime in Jenks. Glenpool - Depends on where you work, or if you really want a "country" atmosphere Glenpool might be of interest. The town is right off a major highway and is up and coming to those who don't wish to live in the city but work there. A budget for that much housing would get you a CASTLE in Glenpool... plus, cheaper property taxes. Your housing budget would really go far here. They too, are doing a great deal of new construction for the above reasons. Union - Union is technically in Tulsa, but not a part of the Tulsa school district. It is another good school system (I'd say Better than Broken Arrow - Less than Jenks). It doesn't have as much new construction as BA, but some of the houses are very nice and not as expensive as Jenks.... just be sure you get in SOUTH Union district. Tulsa - Wouldn't live in Tulsa school district if you paid me unless my kids were out of school. Some of the neighborhoods and houses are really upscale; an area called Brookside has spend a lot of money to have a very cute mini-downtown that is very nice, but it's still Tulsa schools. Most of the people who live in that price range of houses in Tulsa can afford to send their kids to private school. You never said if you had kids... but something to consider if you are going to resell. Bixby - Bixby used to be a country school that grew up so to speak... it is now grown up. If you want horses and cows and chickens.. Bixby is the place to be. Lots of emphasis on sports, and most of the kids that go live in the country, the lots that are being build on are very large... good place to get acreage. Check with neighbors to see if any flooding problems have occurred. Good Luck!! Email me if you have any more questions. You'll love it.

About i live in a city in north Texas but work for an employer in southern Oklahoma

I live in a city in north Texas but work for an employer in southern Oklahoma.?
Am I required to pay Oklahoma Income Tax?
Law & Ethics - 3 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
I worked for a company in Chicago for 6 years but I maintained my address in Texas so I could avoid state taxes. You shuold be able to do that too..
Answer 2 :
You pay taxes based on your state of residence. Okla. probably withheld money, which you should get back, depending on your return.
Answer 3 :
Taxes are paid based upon both where you live and where you work. Texas has no state income tax so you don't have to worry about taxes where you live. You do have to worry about taxes where you work. If you are driving across the border to work in Oklahoma, then you will be subject to Oklahoma state taxes--you'll file as a "non-resident." If you are physically performing the work that you do in Texas, then you should not be subject to Oklahoma taxes. For example, you work at a store that's located in Texas, but the company headquarters is in Oklahoma, then you don't pay Oklahoma tax because you don't really work there. See the difference? If you wind up having to file a non-resident Oklahoma return, it's important to remember that you only have to pay Oklahoma tax on the income you earn in Oklahoma. Any investment income or retirement income would be taxed to your home state (which being Texas won't get taxed.)

About does anyone have any experience working for Primerica in the Oklahoma City area

Does anyone have any experience working for Primerica in the Oklahoma City area?
I'm considering a job there and would like to know more. Oh course, the people who want me to work there will say its a great oppurtunity. Anyone else work for them? Know anyone who does? I'm supposed to go to another interview tonight. I will keep an open mind and will decide if its best for me. I still would like more opinoins and experiences with Primerica.
Other - Local Businesses - 5 Answers

Answer 1 :
We had a family member who was working with Primerica and he came to our house and we actually bought life insurance through him. It's been about 6 years and we still have the life insurance. We did have to go to a meeting at their office that tried to get us to work for Primerica. To me, it just seemed kind of like a get rich fast scheme, but I know some people could make a lot of money doing it. I think it just depends on how much you are willing to get out and sell their products and how many hours you want to work. I haven't ever met anyone that has made a lot of money doing it. It's one of those companies that you have to get people underneath you and then you make commission off of them. If that's what you are looking for then Primerica might be right for you.
Answer 2 :
If I may make a suggestion. I believe you should look into World Financial Group. There are several reasons why. 1. We don't sell our own products. Prim. Sells mainly through themselves or Citigroup products. How can you find the best rates and services if you can't look beyond yourselves. WFG works with over 200 companies. 2. We dont have a one sided view. (Buy Term and Invest the Rest) Term isn't a one size fits all and if you only have an insurance license what rest can you have them invest in? WFG can deal with much more than just term and allow you to invest your money in an assortment of ways. But EDUCATING the customer is most important. 3. We teach our clients about sheltering their wealth from taxes. How would you like to invest without being taxed and with the comfort of knowing you can have the potential of huge growth without any risk of losing your money?
Answer 3 :
I've been in Primerica for over 4 years now and you will experience both good and bad. You will experience that this is a difficult business and people will say no to you. Some people you recruit will quit. Not everyone will do business with you. I think the most difficult experience you will face is the beginning. You are unsure what to do, you are wondering if this business will work, you wonder why you are even doing this, and you are wondering when are you going to get paid? In fact, you will think about quitting. I have thought about quitting many times, but I know there's no better opportunity out there that can help me reach my goals. If I had a salary job and never do Primerica, it would be nearly impossible for me to get to where I want to be. I get paycheck and then most of it goes toward bills. That's how most people in America live, from paycheck to paycheck. Anyway, my point is that it will be tough in the beginning. The good experiences I have in Primerica is meeting new people and becoming friends with some of them. The environment in Primerica is very friendly and positive. Its not like a corporate environment where you are stuck in the office all day processing work and get yelled at for making mistakes. At Primerica, we treat mistakes as a learning experience and show others how to avoid it such as forgetting to sign the application. Every time I see a client, I feel good about what I was able to do for them, which is get them out of debt, help them build wealth, protect their income, and offer them the business opportunity. I haven't had a single client who came up to me and say "I want to stay in debt, I don't need to save money, I don't need to protect my income in case something happens to me, or I don't need extra income." Other good experiences I have is getting the chance to meet successful Primerica reps earning 6 figures or 7 figures and ask them on how they did it, what kept them motivated, how do I get referrals, how do I build my team, and what goals did they set. As you progress in your career and build a team, some of your teammates will get promoted. I feel excited every time someone on my team gets promoted. Why? It brings them one step closer to Regional Vice President contract and it also brings me one step closer as well (I'm currently a Division Leader in the company). Despite what other people say about Primerica on how they think we screw people, you should know they haven't been out in the field talking to clients and haven't had enough experience to understand what's really going on in the real world. If you knew what I knew, you will feel sorry for these people, but at the same time, feel that you are the answer to their prayers because you have all the financial solutions to help these people. Plus, most of them are fakers who say they are in Primerica, but never really was in it (such as the previous guy who has no clue on how commissions work in Primerica). Others are insurance agents or financial advisers who truly hate Primerica. Other companies don't bash Primerica, its their sales force that does. I don't bash other companies because I don't need to. Even though I took many clients away from these companies, the documents (such as life insurance policies, mortgage statements, investments) themselves prove their products are ripoffs and I don't need to convince the client that what I offer is better. If you do decide to work in Primerica, my first advice to you is figure out why you want to be in the business? Maybe you want to fund your parent's retirement, live a lavish life style, retire early, provide the best education to your kids, or use Primerica as a tool to build a business you want to open. Whatever it may be, find out your why. Then make a game plan to reach those goals.
Answer 4 :
EVERY product Primerica offers is OVERPRICED, BIGTIME! Regardless of which philosophy for financial security you believe in, the limited products, lack of education to agents and blatant overpricing of Primerica's products make it nearly impossible to be a good agent. Those that make it, are professional recruiters, not advisers. The hype meeting will make you believe Primerica is the Robin Hood of financial services. Upon further evaluation, you'll realize it's closer paralleled to Sesame Street economics.
Answer 5 :
My friend worked there a long time ago in OKC and I went to their little demo...not very impressive. I don't think he liked working there. I live in OKC and have not heard anything positive, but I could be wrong. It seems like maybe not such a good idea?

BY GETTING DRUNK ALL DAY LONG AND PASSING OUT JUST LIKE IN <COYOTE UNGLY> THE MOVIE.

Contact the local liquor board and ask them the requirements. Here in MD, you take a certification class/exam and are presented with a certificate that is good for 4 years. It generally costs around $50.

You don't need a liquor license to work at a bar. Only if you own the bar you would need the license.

You don't have to have a liquor license to work in a bar, the company does. You just have to be over the age of 21.

About do I have to get a license to operate an electric bicycle in Oklahoma

Do I have to get a license to operate an electric bicycle in Oklahoma?
I live in Oklahoma City and work a part time job and go to school so this seems like something that would help me out as far as money is concerned. Does anyone know if i have to get a license or a link that goes directly to this question not just the dept of public safety website, thanks!
Alternative Fuel Vehicles - 1 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
It depends on what kind of bike you have. If it is closer to a motorcycle, you have to get a motorcycle license. If it is closer to a bicycle, you don't have to get one. Technically, the rule is anything with a motor, including a mo-ped, must be licensed. Therefore, it is important to know exactly how your specific model is classified. This information is usually available through the seller. And sorry, you have to go to an actual place in person to get your license for this. (Again, this depends on what it is you are driving for certain.)

I was working in Oklahoma City , 4 months,had a Students: J1 Visa, and earned 11 000 $ , from those I have ..?
I was working in Oklahoma City , 4 months, had a Students: J1 Visa, and earned 11 000 $ (and spend most of them :)) ), from those I paid more than 2 200 $ for Taxes. Now my question is : Because I'm no US resident, how much should I expect that the US government will return to me?
United States - 1 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
How much of that $2,200 was for Federal income tax? Assuming that 7.65% was withheld for Social Security and Medicare, that should be about $1,359, less $550 for OK State tax = $809 for Federal income tax. Assuming that you are still within your first 5 years in the US, you are taxed as a non-resident alien so you can only deduct your personal exemption amount from your wages. $11,000 - $3,500 = $7,500 for taxable income. The tax on $7,500 is $750. $809 - $750 = $59 refunded to you. This is just a guess based upon assumptions that may or may not be correct.

About do i have to be licensed to work as a massage therapist in oklahoma city, ok metro area

Do i have to be licensed to work as a massage therapist in oklahoma city, ok metro area?
I am wanting to do some massage therapy on the side for some extra cash. I have been to school for this but need to know if i would be breaking any laws by doing so with out a license. Thank you
Alternative Medicine - 3 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
I teach massage in Texas, where you do have to have your license. Call or Google the OK State Department of Health to find out what their requirements are. Some counties and cities even have their own rules. Beware of local massage therapists who will turn you in to the state for operating without a license. Texas is a very competitive market, and my students have told me stories about "clients" who turned out to be students from local massage schools. When my students mentioned they didn't have their license yet because they were waiting to take the state exam, they were turned in to the state. People can be mean.
Answer 2 :
They didn't teach you that in school!? Well according to my review book it says OK has NO regulations for Massage Therapist. So i guess that means you don't have to be licensed. If you plan on moving i'd suggest taking the National Exam so that you'll be nationally certified. I live in FL and you have to be licensed here so im due to take the exam next month. Email me if you have anymore questions.
Answer 3 :
http://www.massageregister.com/staterequirements.asp#Ohio This is a good resource website to get a profile of state licensing requirements for massage therapy. (I know the link says Ohio, but Oklahoma is on the same page). As the blurb says, even though state credentialing is not required, you may need to satisfy county or municipal regulations in order to practice in different areas of the state. You probably want to check out this site to see if you can contact someone with the county health department. http://www.cchdoc.com/
